Job Description
Hope Community Church in Santa Barbara is seeking a bookkeeper. This could be a part-time or full-time job. We are looking for someone with experience who lives in Santa Barbara, or at least in California. The bookkeeper will be responsible for managing many aspects of the finances of our organization, which includes a Christian church as well as a preschool with multiple locations. Our church has several bank accounts, investment accounts, and a property that we own. Payroll experience is especially valuable, as that is a significant part of the job.
Responsibilities include:
-Updating and keeping records of all church and preschool tax documents
-Scheduling and paying bills in a timely manner
-Keeping clear records of all financial transactions, using QuickBooks online and other services
-Managing the balances of our accounts, anticipating future expenses
-Managing the payroll, including start dates, benefits, and overtime, for church and preschool employees, about 50 people
-Communicating regularly with the lead pastor and preschool director
Requirements:
-Proficiency with QuickBooks Online
-Experience managing payroll
-Alignment with our church values and beliefs
-Clear written and verbal communication skills
-The ability to keep multiple projects organized and prioritized well
