Position Summary:
The Director of Worship Ministries will develop and lead a Jesus-centered worship ministry that engages the church body in authentic worship and prepares them for the teaching of God’s word. This position will engage with and care for the church body, lead and manage their team members and recruit and lead ministry volunteers. 

Your education:
Bachelor’s degree in music, worship arts or closely related field. Five years' experience in directing and leading worship, music composition, music performance, audio/visual production, and engineering.

Skills you need to have:


  • Ability to envision how weekend worship services and special events will honor God, fit with TRF and the teaching pastors’ objectives and best reach/engage church attendees.   

  • Intermediate to advanced skills in music theory, lead sheets, chord charts and vocal arrangements.   

  • Working knowledge of common worship instruments: digital keyboard, acoustic piano, acoustic/electric/base guitars, full drum kit, percussion, and stringed instruments.   

  • Knowledge of copyright laws in use of audio and visual content for streaming and live production.  

  • Ability to lead and manage musicians and volunteers.  

  •  Must possess the ability to build relationships and collaborate with TRF team members and volunteers. Possess wisdom, tact, and discernment to skillfully navigate challenges in a God-honoring way. 

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills including listening and ability to provide clear instruction.  

  • Conflict management skills.   

  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge and use Mac or PC consoles, tablets, and associated devices.   

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, ProPresenter, Canva, Planning Center, and Music Stand. Ability to learn/master other church software as needed. 

  • Highly productive with good organizational skills and the ability to work independently. Strong and dependable work ethic.  

  • Ability to fully support TRF’s Statement of Faith/Core beliefs, pray, and lead others. 


What you will be doing:


  • Create a vision and plan for weekend worship services and special events. Communicate with the teaching Pastor or speaker for the order of service and details.

  • Identify, schedule, and manage worship team leader volunteers for weekend worship services. 

  • Provide leadership to teams who assist in the implementation of weekend services; the A/V and media, deacons, greeters, communion, and parking ministry teams.  

  • Manage private contractors which may include audio engineer, drum technician, or audio/visual techs. 

  • Lead worship 3-4 times a month. Select songs or provide direction to volunteer worship team leaders, schedule rehearsals, and oversee worship performance. May rewrite arrangements or conduct workshops as needed for musicianship or material. 

  • Plan and direct worship for special events, i.e., Christmas and Easter. Work with the pastor or speaker, select songs and musicians, schedule musician and tech rehearsals, and coordinate with audio/visual crew. 

  • Build personal relationships with worship team members to ensure they are cared for while serving. 

  • Develop the department budget, recommend equipment replacement, and manage expenses. 

  • Provide support and direction to sound booth. May include slides and media, mixing, equipment, or stage setup/teardown. 

  • Interact with congregants, volunteers, or the public. Respond to immediate ministry needs which may include explaining TRF’s Statement of Faith/Core Beliefs, praying with/for others, or providing general ministry guidance.

  • Attend staff meetings and other events that include prayer individually or with a partner/small group. As needed, may lead the group in prayer.
