Nursery - Fifth Grade


Role: Leading children into a dynamic relationship with Christ and equipping them to serve.


A community-oriented conservative church in metro Savannah, Georgia seeks a full-time Director of Children and After School Care.  White Bluff Methodist (11911 White Bluff Rd, whitebluffmethodist.org, and on FB & Instagram @whitebluffmethodist) is a Christ-centered church located in a culturally diverse area of Savannah, Georgia.  Successful applicants will have a love for Jesus that they share with children and their parents thru healthy relationships.  We seek a candidate that is outgoing and involved in the community.  Preference will be given to candidates who can develop and manage After School Care, Mothers Morning Out, and Sunday Children’s Church (through Orange or a similar curriculum).  Flexibility will be key as we seek to determine what parents and children in the community need and then develop and modify programs to meet those needs on an ongoing basis.  We are open to a wide array of candidates including those with backgrounds in teaching, childcare, children’s ministry, and more.  Even if you may not traditionally work in a church but believe you are the right candidate, let us know!  Send resumes and interest to Frank Murray, personnel committee chair (SPR), [email protected].  The position is open until filled.  Negotiable salary range.

RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES:  


After School Care (20 hours per week: open after school –6 pm, Monday- Friday)



  1. Develop an afterschool program outside of school hours for children Monday - Friday during the school calendar year.

  2. Develop a team of volunteers and paid persons to care for children. 

  3. Conduct background checks (Protect My Ministry) and Safe Sanctuaries Certifications for all After School volunteers and paid staff.

  4. Work closely with day schools and other educational groups to provide an enriching and educationally sound experience. 

  5. Develop the structure of the program based on the needs and interests of the students and their parents who participate.

  6. Maintain relationships with the community. 


Children’s Ministry (20 hours per week)



  1. Facilitate/ create/ organize curriculum for Sunday Children’s Worship @ 9:30 am with a preference for Orange or a related curriculum.

  2. Facilitate a Mother’s Morning Out during the week as desired/ needed.

  3. Facilitate/ create/organize occasional children’s service projects.

  4. Facilitate annual opportunities for children’s financial literacy through a curriculum such as Crown or Financial Peace University.

  5. Lead volunteer teams to minister as well through excellent planning, communication, training, and vision casting.

  6. Fill absentee volunteer positions through recruitment, background checks, assigning roles, training, creating nametags, etc.

  7. Conduct background checks (Protect My Ministry) and Safe Sanctuaries Certifications for all After School volunteers and paid staff.

  8. Support and equip volunteers by providing encouragement, resources, feedback, and demonstrations of appreciation.

  9. Continually accesses needs and flow of all points of Children’s Ministry contact and adjusts where appropriate to best serve the congregation.

  10. Works with the Preschool Director and Nursery Coordinator to coordinate infant and toddler care as needed.

Administrative



  1. Check and promptly respond to emails, voicemails, and mail received.

  2. Ensure thorough and efficient communication with parents regarding updates, and curriculum details, via newsletters, emails and flyers, and social media.

  3. Maintain current records and databases for volunteer contact information, applications, and background checks.

  4. Create and maintain a file for events with event information, a detailed timeline, notes suggesting enhancements and things that went well so that the event can be easily planned again, changed, or duplicated for the next year.

  5. Purchase/ Prepare/ Maintain children’s ministry supplies as needed.

  6. Oversee children’s budget, recording expenditures.

  7. Attend and Participate in weekly, one-hour staff meetings


Other Responsibilities



  1. Plan and lead a VBS or Summer Camp-like experience during the summer months.

  2. Continuing Education in Children’s Ministry so that the Director may continually grow personally and professionally.

  3. Build relationships with parents/families.

  4. Hold classes/seminars to equip parents to disciple their children.

  5. Helps with child/family Baptisms and Confirmation.
