About Us
Our History
Clarksburg Baptist Church (CBC) was founded in 1848 on the same downtown corner where we are currently located. We feel called to continue to minister in the community that God has placed around us. At one point CBC had the chance to move to a different location, outside of town, and decided as a church family to remain downtown to positively impact the local area. We are not entrenched in tradition and are willing to change or try new things. We have a heart to minister and reach young growing families within our community. We have strong ties with the West Virginia Baptist Convention and to the American Baptist Convention by name only. We are a fully autonomous church. Our church has a conservative theological view and believes that the Bible is the Word of God and put the teaching of the Bible above church traditions and cultural pushes.
Our Unique Community
Clarksburg Baptist Church hosts a Christ-centered recovery ministry weekly and has strong ties to the local community mission. CBC has more than 50% of our membership who participate in LifeGroups outside of Sunday worship service. The church provides community outreach ministry events during the year, including a "Walk for Water" to provide safe water around the world, and "World Market" to help provide jobs and funds for vunerable people. You will find our congregation generationally diverse. We have an vibrant youth and children’s ministry, while continuing to have active participation by older generations. We have young professionals and families that attend and serve in ministry regularly. With the changing trends, CBC has been able to maintain participation and attendance without compromising the Gospel. We hope that every person who enters our building or comes into contact with us feels welcome and that we are seen as good neighbors who are intent in spreading the Gospel and fulfilling the Great Commission. Our mission is to Gather together like it makes a difference, Grow like never before, and Give like we won't run out!
