About Us
Hope Lutheran Church is a bilingual ELCA congregation in Annandale, Virginia, seven miles from Washington, DC. Organized in 1957, Hope worships in English and in Spanish every week, and the Spanish service grew from one Sunday a month into a weekly service because the congregation kept showing up for it. Hope has spent decades working in Annandale rather than talking about it: a founding member of the Annandale Christian Community for Action, twenty years of adult ESL classes, backpack and food drives with Annandale High School, quilts for Lutheran World Relief, and a monthly seniors' luncheon now in its thirty-fifth year. Hope owns its building and its parsonage and has been debt-free since 2018. We are part of the Metro DC Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.
