ANAHEIM REVIVE CHURCH (ARC) is seeking a Japanese Ministry Pastor. The primary purpose of this position would be to serve as the Japanese Ministry Pastor of the congregation, under the direction and oversight of the Board of Elders and Lead Pastor, to help establish and carry out the ARC mission and vision for the Japanese-speaking congregation. The ideal candidate will be gifted and called to reach out to Japanese-speaking young adults and families.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Preaching And Teaching (Main Responsibility: Approximately 10 hours per week)
a. Study, meditate, and prepare relevant Bible-based messages (2-3 times a month) and deliver messages clearly, giving everyday life
applications in an uplifting worshipful atmosphere
b. Lead a weekly Bible study or short sharing time after service to reflect on the message
2. Congregational Support and Pastoral Care (Approximately 5 hours per week)
a. Oversee and support the growth and stability of the congregation, closely working with the Board of Elders and other pastors, encouraging
member development of giftings to serve and spiritually.
i. Embody a passion for making disciples and helping to develop spiritual gifts
b. Practice the discipline of personal prayer by praying for the needs of the church, church body, and special requests
i. Pray jointly with the church congregation, leaders, and staff
ii. Lead/participate in Wednesday Prayer meetings
c. Foster a warm, welcoming, and open environment by demonstrating strong interpersonal skills, emotional intelligence, and effective conflict
resolution
i. Provide pastoral counseling (premarital, family, and individual)
d. Care for the people of God through evangelistic visits and visiting members who may be ill, elderly, confined, or distressed.
e. Encourage and facilitate church membership
3. Leadership and Administration
a. Work in collaboration with the Board of Elders and lay leaders from the Japanese Ministry to develop and carry out church growth strategies
to support the long-term success and viability of the Japanese Ministry.
b. Support the Lead Pastor and Discipleship Elder in reaching out to Japanese-speaking people and leading Japanese Ministry; this can
include but is not limited to:
i. May be consulted on decisions regarding the budget of the Japanese Ministry and selection of lay ministers.
ii. Assist in the good management of the Japanese congregation, promoting purpose, harmony, and growth.
c. Openly/proactively communicates and accepts feedback on challenges, issues, and conflicts.
d. Attends staff meetings and Board of Elder meetings as needed, and maintains scheduled office hours
e. Performs such ministries as baptisms, dedications, funerals, and marriages under supervision/corporation of pastors from
English Congregation.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
1. Is a graduate or a current student of an approved accredited seminary with an M.Div. or equivalent degree (Preferred)
a. Is aligned with Wesleyan theology
2. Has experience in a pastoral position for at least 1 year (Preferred)
3. Compatibility with the Board of Elders, congregation, and church staff
4. Alignment and support of church mission and vision
a. Ability and vision to execute and implement church mission and vision
5. Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Teams) is preferred
6. Fluent in Japanese, and proficient enough in English to communicate with the ARC Board of Elders and staff
7. Meets general expectations as referenced in the Anaheim Revive Church Bylaws (2024):
a. Maintains diligent commitment to a life of prayer and study.
b. Gives themselves to the proclamation and application of God’s Word. Teaches, rebukes, and encourages in their preaching and counsel.
c. Assists the members to become effective ministers and witnesses for Christ. This is accomplished through personal example and by
training others.
d. Maintains a quality of personal and family life which serves as a model for the church.
e. Actively maintains pastoral support through an accountability group of pastoral peers or the Board of Elders where peers are not available.
8. Meets general expectations as referenced in the Anaheim Revive Church Bylaws (2024).
